AwardsCircuit Announces Community Engagement Initiative During Coronavirus Outbreak

The site commits to engaging with its readers as self-quarantines take place…

The Coronavirus disease (or COVID-19) has wreaked havoc on the world, resulting in the closures of schools, movie theaters, restaurants, and other healthy, everyday activities for humans. In the United States, as of Tuesday, March 16, more than 4,500 people have tested positive for COVID-19, and at least 88 have died. Globally, the death toll was just over 7,100 at this time of writing.

While this is a stressful and dour time, at, we are trying to remain positive and keep our engagement and content flowing with our esteemed readership. With that, we’re announcing this time as the “AwardsCircuit Community Engagement Initiative,” pin-worthy items for our readers to not just look forward to, but to have a confident and hopeful outlet as our world battles this pandemic.

We are committed to engaging with our readership intensely. Not just with written content, but embracing social media, video, podcasts, and more. We want to encourage all our readers to yield the advice of our government officials and stay home when they can. In order to promote that, it’s up to sites like AwardsCircuit to make it worth your while and we’ve accepted that mission.

Down below, you will find a few initiatives and community engagement tools for you to mark on your calendars, as they will be rolling out over the next few days/weeks.

  • AwardsCircuit Community Awards: Best of the Decade – 2010s

    • Our 850,000+ readership has chosen their winners for each year of the 2010s. Starting with David Fincher’s “The Social Network” topping the 2010 ceremony, before ending with the recent crowning of Bong Joon-ho’s “Parasite” in 2019. Each reader will have a vote on each category standard category, with the nominees being the winners of their respective years. You can take a look back at all the winners on the ACCA page.
      BEGINS: Tuesday, March 24, 2020
  • Circuit Madness Tournament: Cinematography

    • Many of you are going through NCAA withdrawal, and maybe even more with awards season. Don’t worry, AwardsCircuit is here for you. Our very popular “Circuit Madness” tournament is about to kick off its sixth year. This year we’re focusing on the Academy Award winning films for Best Cinematography. A “March Madness-style” tournament, where voters decide what film’s camera work stands above them all? As you may have heard in our Circuit Breaker #176 podcast, we have to narrow down the players to compete. Beginning Thursday, you will be voting in “exhibition match-ups” to have films compete in the 12-seed “play in” rounds.
      BEGINS: Thursday, March 19, 2020
  • Circuit Breaker Media Network: THE EXTRAS

    • We love our readers, and (we think?) our readers love us. Each week, we bring you our weekly “Circuit Breaker” podcast, but we will also be utilizing this time to bring you more content in the form of MORE podcasts, and VIDEO hangouts, recordings, and specials. We have lots of ideas floating around but are also looking for some suggestions from our readership. What topic would you like us to talk about on “THE EXTRAS” episodes? Include your suggestions in the comments below, direct message us on our social media channels, or write to us directly at We may have something later today so stay tuned!
      BEGINS: Wednesday, March 20, 2020
  • Site Business As Usual

    • Not unlike this time of the year, our standard items are still in full-force including Awards Profiles (a look at a particular film slated for release this year and its awards prospects), Circuit Q&A’s (daily questions, entertainment or random, for you to share your thoughts and opinions), Top 10s (making a list of any essential topic item of the day or week), and of course Predictions at the Circuit Hub (predicting the Oscars, Emmys, Golden Globes, and SAG, every week). We’re still bringing you the breaking news, film/tv reviews, and opinions on culture. We’ve even been working on new pieces for April that we think you’ll enjoy.
      BEGINS: Always.

And we’re open to even more ideas and desires from the readers. If you want to see something that we’re currently not doing, share it with us. Let’s see if we can get it off the ground over the next few weeks.

Pay close attention to not just the site, but our social media channels including Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram with announcements.

We’re in this together, and it’s going to be difficult times ahead. We can choose to succumb to the pressure and anxiety or tackle it head-on together. As a personal mission, we want to use the “internet” to foster positivity and support during this time. I’m excited to see what the next few weeks bring from humanity.

Looking onward, we rise!
